Nice Backyard is a landscaping and building supplies business expanding into nursery plants. We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Nursery Hand with some practical knowledge and experience caring for seedlings and young plants.
About the Role
You’ll help keep our plants healthy, maintain an attractive nursery display and assist customers with basic plant care advice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Watering and caring for seedlings, young plants and other nursery stock.
- Potting, repotting, feeding, light pruning and weeding as needed.
- Monitoring plants for signs of pests, disease or poor health and reporting concerns.
- Checking incoming plants and arranging, labelling and pricing stock.
- Keeping the nursery area clean, tidy and well presented.
- Helping customers choose plants and understand their basic care requirements.
- Assisting with plant stock checks and preparing customer orders.
About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Some experience caring for plants in a nursery, garden centre or through regular hands-on gardening.
- A basic understanding of watering, sunlight, potting mixes and feeding requirements, particularly for young plants.
- A genuine interest in gardening and plant care.
- Reliability, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and with our team.
- A friendly manner and willingness to assist customers.
- The ability to carry out outdoor work and safely handle pots, plants and gardening materials.
Horticultural qualifications are welcome but are not essential. Practical plant care experience is what matters most.
Hours and Pay
