Irrigation Hand
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established farm with a growing team! CMV Farms is undertaking the development of a 280-hectare pistachio orchard, alongside our existing 220-hectare property, 15km from Robinvale, Victoria. We are seeking a full-time Irrigation Farm Hand to assist the Irrigation Manager with the daily operation and maintenance of the property’s irrigation systems.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Irrigation Manager, you will:
- Effectively operate the farm’s irrigation systems.
- Undertake field repairs as issues arise.
- Perform routine maintenance on irrigation equipment.
- Mix fertiliser ready for injection through the farm’s fertigation systems.
- Monitor soil moisture levels through manual digs and interpretation of soil moisture probes.
- Assist with other daily operational tasks around the farm as required.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in operating and maintaining irrigation systems, preferably in a farm setting.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high quality of work.
- Flexibility in work hours to support the Irrigation Manager in maintaining irrigation operations around the seasonal demands of the orchard.
- Can do attitude and willingness to be a cohesive member of our team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and strong practical problem-solving skills.
- A valid Australian driver’s licence is required. A forklift licence and chemical handling certificate are preferable.
