Established in 2015, Matthew Morgan Horticulture provides high-quality garden maintenance and horticultural services throughout Melbourne’s inner and eastern suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula.

As a small business, we take pride in doing things properly. We value professionalism, attention to detail, excellent workmanship and, most importantly, treating our clients and their gardens with care and respect.

We are seeking a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic person who genuinely enjoys working outdoors and has an interest in horticulture.

This is an opportunity to work with a qualified and passionate horticulturist and small business owner, gaining practical experience across a diverse range of gardens while developing and refining your skills along the way.

What the Role Involves

Typical work will include:

  • Pruning and trimming
  • Hedging
  • Weeding & general tidying
  • Planting
  • Mulching and fertilising
  • Lawn mowing and edging
  • Use of lawn mowers, blowers, whipper snippers and hedging equipment
  • Maintenance of irrigation systems

You’ll be working in a variety of residential gardens, so an eye for detail and genuine pride in your work are important.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified in Horticulture (Degree, Diploma or Certificate), currently undertaking horticultural studies, or has at least two years’ relevant industry experience
  • Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic
  • Physically capable of performing the requirements of garden maintenance work
  • A good communicator who is comfortable working with clients and as part of a small team
  • Positive, hardworking
  • Interested in learning and developing their horticultural skills
  • Respectful of clients, their homes and their gardens
  • Detail-oriented and takes genuine pride in the quality of their work
  • Comfortable working independently when required, while also being a collaborative team member
  • Legally entitled to work in Australia
  • The holder of a Victorian driver’s licence with access to your own vehicle

Most importantly, we’re looking for the right person and attitude. If you’re enthusiastic about horticulture, take pride in your work and are keen to learn, we’d like to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • A valued role within a small, friendly business where your contribution matters
  • Interesting and varied horticultural work
  • Above-award wages, based on experience
  • Superannuation
  • Immediate start
  • Branded uniform pieces provided
  • Ongoing training, mentorship and opportunities to develop your skills
  • The opportunity to learn directly from an experienced and passionate horticulturist
  • A three-month probationary period

Interested?

If this sounds like the kind of opportunity you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send through:

  • A cover letter introducing yourself and telling us why you think you’d be a good fit for the role
  • Your resume, including your qualifications, skills and relevant experience
  • Evidence of your right to work in Australia

We expect everyone we work with to treat each other with respect and dignity. We believe in merit, fairness and providing an inclusive workplace, and welcome applications from people of all ages, sexes, gender identities, races, marital statuses, sexual orientations, abilities and religions.
