Horticultural Agronomist

Nestled in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, just 25 minutes from the beautiful town of Noosa. We specialise in the production of premium snacking tomatoes, grown year-round in our state-of-the-art hydroponic greenhouse — combining the care and values of a family operation with modern, innovative growing techniques.

Our team is tight-knit, dedicated, and proud of the product that leaves our farm. As we continue to expand our operations, we are looking for a talented, motivated agronomist to grow with us.

If you’re passionate about horticulture and want to be part of something exciting that’s still small enough for your contribution to truly matter, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

As an Agronomist, you will provide specialist advice and technical expertise to optimise our crop performance, improve production outcomes, and support sustainable farming practices across our tomato growing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor crop health, growth performance, and production outcomes through regular field assessments and data collection
  • Collect, interpret, and report on soil, water, fertiliser, and plant tissue analysis to support agronomic decision-making
  • Develop and implement crop nutrition, irrigation, and soil management programs to maximise yield and quality
  • Identify and evaluate pest, disease, and weed issues and recommend appropriate management strategies
  • Assess environmental and seasonal factors affecting crop production and recommend practical solutions to minimise risks
  • Provide technical advice to management regarding cultivation practices, planting schedules, crop performance, and production efficiencies
  • Analyse production data and trial results to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Design and coordinate agronomic trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertiliser programs, and production techniques
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations relating to crop performance, soil health, and production outcomes
  • Assist in the development of farm management procedures aimed at improving productivity, sustainability, and resource efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with farm managers and production teams to implement agronomic programs and monitor results
  • Ensure agronomic activities are conducted in accordance with relevant industry standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and environmental obligations

Skills required

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or higher
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience in crop production, horticulture, or agronomy
  • Strong knowledge of soil science, plant nutrition, irrigation management, and integrated pest management
  • Experience interpreting laboratory analysis and production data
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical advice to operational teams
  • A commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and continuous improvement

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package of $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation
  • Long-term career opportunities within a growing horticultural business
  • Exposure to modern production systems and innovative farming practices
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to the ongoing growth and success of Tomato Brothers
