Southern Plants is a family-owned wholesale nursery with over 75 years of history, based in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula. With around 80 team members across production, sales, and administration, we’re a close-knit operation that takes pride in what we grow — and who we grow it with.
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and hands-on 2IC to join our Dispatch team. Reporting to the Dispatch Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in keeping daily operations running smoothly — supporting your team, maintaining quality standards, and stepping up as the leader when needed.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Dispatch Supervisor in leading and motivating the dispatch team
- Overseeing day-to-day dispatch activities to ensure orders go out accurately and on time
- Acting as team leader in the Supervisor’s absence
- Coaching and supporting team members on the job
- Ensuring OHS requirements and safe work practices are followed at all times
- Assisting with dispatch paperwork, delivery documentation, and system records
- Coordinating with other teams for smooth operational flow
- Supporting truck loading and logistics as required
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, or a similar fast-paced production environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and operational systems
- A proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure
Desirable
- Previous leadership or 2IC experience
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience in horticulture or nursery environments (training provided)
